As of 1st January 2007 all new homes for which planning
permission is applied for must have a Building Energy
Rating (BER) Certificate before they can be offered for
sale or rent. From July 2008 this also applies to commercial
buildings.
As of 1 January 2009, a Building Energy Rating (BER)
certificate is required by law for all existing
buildings, when they are offered for sale or for rent. |
